Members of the Public Council under Armenian Healthcare Minister have expressed concerns about the cooperation between the previous Armenian government and Philip Morris.

The ministry said that Director of the Armenian National Institute of Health Alexander Bazarchyan reported about the draft law on reduction and prevention of negative effects of smoking on health at the meeting chaired by Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan. Bazarchyan underlined the goals, tasks, key areas of focus and anticipated results of the bill.

“Respecting everyone’s right to live in smoke-free, ‘healthy’ environment, the members of the Public Council express their concern about the cooperation between the previous Armenian government and Philip Morris International.


We support the policy adopted by the Ministry of Healthcare and stand against patronage for any tobacco product. The council is ready to take measures aimed at developing a healthy society,” reads the Public Council’s statement.
