On May 14 more than 672 households living in border villages of Sarigyugh, Voskevan and Nerkin Tsaghkavan of Tavush marz were provided with 3360 LED lamps of high quality having 3-year warranty period.LED lamps were delivered in the framework of Light Border Initiative with the assistance of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia, UNDP “Integrated Support to Rural Development: Building Resilient Communities” project financing and R2E2 Fund coordination. The representatives of the R2E2 Fund and the UN Development Program, as well as YES Armenia programme experts’ coordinated LED lighting of three more villages in frontier communities of Armenia. The expert of YES Armenia programme from the R2E2 Fund informed Banks.am that average annual energy saving in these communities will make about AMD 18-20m.LED lamps are 8-10 times more energy efficient, durable, and resistant to power fluctuations, free of chemical toxic substances and more preferable from an environmental point of view, than incandescent lamps.In the result of Light Border Initiative launched in November, 2016, 4343 households of 22 frontier villages are provided with 5 LED lamps, about 21,000 in total.
