The European Union will allocate EUR 15,2m for increasing the efficiency of labor market in Armenia and boosting employment, particularly, in the sector of agriculture. The funds will be provided within the frames of “Better Qualifications for Better Jobs” programme for 2017-2019.The programme will be implemented by Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture with the involvement of private sector organizations and social partners. “Our agenda is clear: we need to take action and work together in order to make sure that young people and their skills are at the heart of inclusive growth. With the right skills, young people are better prepared for active citizenship. They have a better chance of finding and keeping a good job, and they are better equipped to set up their own business - and in turn, to create jobs for others,” EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski said. EU Delegation to Armenia informed that the budget support component of EUR 13m will be directed for meeting priorities of Employment Policy and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector identified by the European Union and the Government of Armenia, while a complimentary support component of EUR 2,2m is reserved for capacity building and review of the programme implementation.
