Head of Georgian National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze stated that Georgia got USD 2 billion from tourism last year, while the country’s budget is USD 3.34 billion.

Kommersant newspaper reports Chogovadze’s statement that in 2016 Georgia broke two records in tourism sector: total number of foreign visitors exceeded 6 million for the first time in the post-Soviet period, and the number of Russian tourists exceeded 1 million.

“Last year 1 037 564 Russian citizens visited Georgia, which is by 12% more than in 2015,” said the Georgian official.
