Yerevan, December 20 /Mediamax/. The volume of foreign investments in the real sector of the Armenian economy in the January-September period of 2006 made over $297mln, which exceeds the indices of the same period of 2005 for 31,8%.

As the National Statistical Service of Armenia told Mediamax today, from the whole volume of the investments, $149044.1 thousand fell on the share of direct investments (growth – 8%).

According to the data of 9 months of 2006, the first place as to the volume of investments in Armenia occupies Argentina, which invested about $58mln, then comes Lebanon - $56,3mln, Greece - $44,8, Germany - $34,6mln, Russia - $34,3mln, the USA - $23,7mln and others.

Mediamax notes that the first place of Argentina in the list is reasoned by the fact that the Yerevan International “Zvartnots” Airport is in concessive administration of an Argentinean Company. The second place of the Lebanon is reasoned by the fact, that there lives the owner of the Armenian VivaCell mobile operator. Greece occupies the third position, as till November 2006, the 90% shares of the Armenian “ArmenTel” Telecommunications Company belonged to the Greek OTE Corporation.
