Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated today that Austria’s development experience is very important to Armenia, as Austria achieved great success in development of almost all spheres.

Serzh Sargsyan made this statement during the discussion of the report of Armenian Ambassador to Austria, Head of Armenia’s mission to OSCE and UN Office at Vienna Arman Kirakosyan.

“I believe that we have plenty of opportunities to accept Austrian investments in Armenia, especially in the industry, because there are many powerful companies in Austria that make investments in lots of countries, and even though Armenia has a small territory it entered Eurasian Economic Union, opening a lot of possibilities,” said the President.

According to him, Armenia is ready to create favourable conditions for any large investor, going as far as passing special laws in National Assembly for specific investments.

“I would like our business relations to be more much more forward, especially considering that Austria is experienced and very interested in renewable energy sources, natural resources management, including issues of reasonable consumption of water,” said the President.

Arman Kirakosyan noted that the two states have a complete legal-contractual field and 20 cooperation agreements in different spheres.

“I’d like to note that all conditions are created for business conferences, promoted by both Heinz Fischer’s visit to Armenia and your visit to Austria, as well as Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz’ visit to Armenia in September 2014, who brought from Austria a special group of businessmen interested in energy sphere. The 4th business conference will take place within the 7th session of Armenian-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical issues on April 13. Thus, conditions are created for businessmen to meet and cooperate,” said Ambassador.

Arman Kirakosyan stressed the importance of creating a friendship group in Austrian parliament, as well as opening “Hayastan” center in Austria.
