Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Yervand Zakharyan said today that the current situation requires revision of the energy tariff.

Talking to journalists, the Minister said that over the past years, Armenian Electric Networks (AEN) has suffered a loss at AMD37.6bln due to unplanned repairs of the nuclear plant, disruptions in regimes and low levels of water, and the company isn’t responsible for it.

“The change in tariffs requested by the AEN resulted from the situation. Besides losses, the price change was affected by Ruble-Dollar correlation over the past 1-2 years as well”, he said.
According to Yervand Zakharyan, the proposals on revision of the tariff are grounded.

It should be noted that the AEN offers to increase the energy price for people by AMD17 upon the request submitted to the Public Services Regulatory Commission on May 8.

The daytime tariff for people is proposed to be increased from AMD41.85 kWh up to AMD58.93kWh, and nightly tariff - from AMD31.85kWh up to AMD48.93kWh.

As for the gas price, Yervand Zakharyan said that it will be unchanged for all the consumers of the republic.
