Armenia spent around USD 600 million for the maintenance of the rate of national currency but did not manage to do it. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated it today, Mediamax’s special correspondent from Tbilisi reported. According to him, Georgia spent reserves to the tune of USD 160 million. Commenting on around 30% GEL depreciation, the PM said that Georgia faces almost the same situation as the rest of the countries in the region. “At first, Azerbaijan spent USD 1 billion 200 million, afterwards, it spent USD 1 billion more in order to keep the national currency rate, nevertheless there was 34% depreciation in just a day,” he said.
