Yerevan, September 6 /Mediamax/. The head of the Operative-Investigative Department of the State Tax Service of Armenia, Major-General Shahen Hovasapian, was killed in Yerevan this morning. Mediamax reports that this morning at about 09:30 Shahen Hovasapian left his house in Byron Street of the small center of Yerevan. He sat into the service car, after which a strong explosion took place which resulted in Shahen Hovasapian’s immediate death. The Armenian President Robert Kocharian assigned the law enforcement bodies of the republic to take measures for the soon revelation of the Head of the Operative-Investigative Department of the State Tax Service Shahen Hovasapian’s murder, committed in Yerevan this morning. The Spokesman for the Armenian President Viktor Soghomonian told Mediamax about this. The Armenian President sent condolences to Shahen Hovasapian’s family members and relatives. “The criminal actions, directed against efforts for setting up equal tax conditions for all and the efforts on improving tax administration, are not able to change the purposeful policy of the state in that sphere”, the Spokesman for the Armenian President stated.
