The first store of French Carrefour supermarket chain will open in Yerevan in March 2015.Laurent Nazet, Marketing and Sourcing General Manager of Majid Al Futtaim Group, told Banks.am about it.“Now the preparatory works of the opening of our store are being followed up. By 99% probability, we will open in March”, Laurent Nazet said. Majid Al Futtaim Group has been operating under Carrefour trademark in Near East, Caucasus and North Africa since 1995. It should be recalled that Carrefour was scheduled to open in Yerevan back in the third quarter of 2014. In May 2014, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and French leader Francois Hollande visited Yerevan Mall trade center to see the building site of Carrefour hypermarket. At the presence of the Presidents, the Preliminary Lease Agreement was signed between Yerevan Mall and Carrefour. According to the latest information, Carrefour was supposed to open in late January 2015. The first Carrefour store opened in Paris in 1963.
