The manat assets deployed in corporate bonds are expected to increase, the chairman of the State Securities Committee of Azerbaijan, Gunduz Mamedov, told Trend agency.

He noted that due to the increase of the manat rate during first 6 months of 2006 diversification of corporate bonds portfolio has been marked. Gunduz Mamedov expressed the opinion that the manat assets will keep growing by the end of the year.

According to Gunduz Mamedov, the strengthening of the national currency makes the securities market more attractive for nonresidents.

The volume of placement of corporate bonds between January and June 2006 in Azerbaijan totaled 9,621mln manats. This figure exceeds 30 times the 2005 index.
