Crédit Agricole completes agentic payment transaction

Crédit Agricole, Mastercard and Worldline have carried out the first agentic payment transaction completed in production in France.

The transaction saw a Crédit Agricole customer search for festivals via a digital agent by defining specific parameters such as budget, event type and location. The agent then proposed a selection which the customer chose and confirmed before requesting the AI to initiate the purchase process.

Crédit Agricole, as the issuing bank, retain its role in authentication and authorisation. Specific identifiers ensure the transparency of the transaction and guarantee secure and traceable processing.

Barbara Sessa, MD, Mastercard France, says: “By working closely with leading French players such as Worldline and Crédit Agricole, we are helping to structure a robust, reliable, and scalable framework, paving the way for the large-scale deployment of these innovations in France and, more broadly, in Europe.”
