Starting from 2022, three Russian banks will start installing the possibility of withdrawing money at an ATM from a borrowed card, Izvestiya reports.Users will be able to generate a QR code in the bank’s mobile app for a certain amount and transfer it to a friend, who can pick up the money from an ATM by scanning the code. Clients can replenish their accounts in the same way with this new function.Speed and convenience are the upside of this technology, but experts warn of the risk of fraud.“This method of depositing and withdrawing cash will significantly expand the functionality of ATMs. People who do not have their cards on them and people who are not clients of the given bank can use this new function too. The demand for this service will be high, and this function will allow organizations to attract new customers,” said a representative of one of the three banks. With the new service, cash withdrawal is completely contactless. The three banks say it will expand the possibilities of receiving money for people who do not have bank cards. However, the service carries additional risks: for example, the likelihood of unauthorized transmission of QR codes to third parties and various options for telephone fraud. At present, only Tinkoff has such a system. Clients of the financial organization can generate a QR code in the app and send it to a relative, friend or any other person. The bank completes around 40,000 transactions worth about RUB 3.5 billion through the service per month, said the press service of Tinkoff. At the same time, ATMs have a limit of RUB 150,000 at a time on cash withdrawals via a QR code. The partner of Fintech section is Tweet Views 6544
