Banks.am, through the MaxMonitor media monitoring and analysis system, presents the distribution of Visa and Mastercard mentions in Armenian online media in the first quarter of 2025 and the main contents of the publications.

According to the results of monitoring of nearly 150 news websites, in the first quarter of 2025, Visa was mentioned 391 times and Mastercard - 344.

#Visa

•    Visa held a two-day Issuer Challenge event in Armenia.

•    Banks.am spoke with Visa Regional Manager Diana Kiguradze about the impact of the She’s Next Empowered by Visa initiative.  

•    IDBank issued a new Visa Signature Business card.

•    Ameriabank and Visa summarized the results of the “My Armenia, My Future” competition held for students of Armenia’s state and private universities.

•    Telcell announced a special offer, according to which customers who opened a free Visa digital card in the Telcell Wallet by March 20 would receive 2 x 5000 BON and a chance to win an iPhone 16 Pro.

•    Visa announced the launch of the SecurePay campaign in Armenia.

•    Amio Bank and Telcell issued the Amio x Telcell joint Visa card.

•    ACBA Bank released a limited edition Visa Signature card featuring Martiros Saryan’s painting “Armenia Panno,” with only 500 copies available.

•    Telcell announced that public transportation payments in Yerevan can now be made using Apple Pay and Google Pay, provided users have a Telcell Visa digital card.

#Mastercard

•    Amio Bank and Mastercard offered 20% cashback for purchases made at Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti and Farfetch with Mastercard Digital, Gold, Platinum and World Elite cards until January 15, 2025.

•    Evocabank closed 2024 with strong performance, introducing several new products, including the Mastercard Digital card and the first international digital gift card in Armenia - the Mastercard Digital Gift Card.

•    Byblos Bank Armenia concluded the “Digital Purchases, Real Gifts” campaign organized for Mastercard Digital cardholders.

•    AraratBank, Converse Bank and Byblos Bank Armenia received recognition from Mastercard, earning awards in various categories.

•    IDBank announced that starting February 1, customers would earn 5% idcoin on all international transactions made with IDBank’s Mastercard.

•    Fast Bank introduced Mastercard World and World Elite premium cards.

•    Converse Bank Mastercard cardholders benefited from a joint campaign by Mastercard and Apple from January 31 to February 16, 2025, allowing them to purchase Apple gadgets or accessories from partner stores and receive discounts on other products.

#Visa #Mastercard

In several publications, Visa and Mastercard were mentioned together:

•    Yerevan Municipality announced that Visa, Mastercard or ArCa bank cards with NFC capabilities can replace the transport card in urban transport.

•    Amio Bank offered deposit interest rates of up to 10.5% in AMD and 5% in USD for deposits made via the AMIO Mobile app, with customers receiving a free Visa or Mastercard card.

•    According to the Central Bank of Armenia, in 2024, the turnover of Visa cards issued in Armenia increased by 70%, reaching 680.8 billion drams, and that of Mastercard by 88%, amounting to 213.3 billion drams.

•    Fast Bank launched high-yield deposits, allowing customers to receive a Visa Classic, ArCa Classic, Visa Gold, Mastercard World, Visa Infinite or Mastercard World Elite AknCard, depending on the amount of the deposit.
