As of the first half-year of 2012, the total capital of banking system of Armenia grew by AMD 12.2bln or by 3.3% having made AMD 387.3bln, said Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA) Ashot Osipyan. He said that over this period, the assets of the system increased by 6.5% or by AMD 135.1bln having made AMD2.2tln.\"Growth in loan investments in the Armenian banking system made 16% or AMD 213bln as of January-June 2012. Lending to individuals increased by 17.5% or AMD 67.0bln, mortgage crediting - by 8.4% or AMD 9.4bln and the growth of consumer crediting made 12.1% or AMD 30.3bln\", said Ashot Osipyan. He stressed the growth in economy lending made 15.3% (AMD 135bln) as of the first half-year. At the same time, the highest growth of lending was registered in the service sector (19%) and agriculture (16%). The industry lending grew by 5% in the accounting period.As of the first half-year, deposits attracted from individuals and legal entities also grew by 18.1% and 15.8% respectively in the first half-year.The UBA Chairman also noted that the growth still remains stable in the sphere of international money transfers as well - particularly, the growth of transfer inflow made 15% or USD 121mln as of the first half-year.
