Yerevan/Mediamax/. Democracy support level in Armenia reached almost up to 80% as in the Western European countries. The data provided by “Crisis and Transition: The People’s Perspective” research conducted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development indicate this, Mediamax reports quoting “Vedomosti”. The research has registered a paradox: the democracy support in the CIS and Russia grew as a result of the crisis.“The crisis made people who lived in a more free society and who were affected by the crisis most of all get embittered about the current democratic political system. And vice versa - those who lived in a more authoritative environment became more convinced supporters of democratic changes after the crisis”, write the authors of the report.According to the EBRD research, Armenia registered 28% democracy support rate, the highest rate of growth of democracy support for the past 4 years. As a result, Armenia shifted from the 26th place to the 2nd in the region.RIA Novosti notes that among the countries which more advanced in implementing reforms, the support indices decreased more abruptly in Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary- the index in Slovakia fell by over 20%.
