As of June 30, 2006, 18 banks with foreign capital functioned in Azerbaijan. The share holding of the foreign capital in three banks ranges from 50 to 100%, in 11 banks - to 50% and in 4 banks - to 100%. Two representations of non-resident banks function in Azerbaijan as well.

As of June 30, 2006, 133 loan organizations had licenses to conduct banking activity in Azerbaijan.

Out of 44 Azeri banks, 41 have been allowed to attract investments, 43 - to conduct currency operations, 3 - to conduct precious metal operations, 41 - to issue guarantees, and 34 - to conduct operations with plastic cards, Trend reports.
