Chinese payment service WeChat Pay has entered the Russian market, Vedomosti reports.

“The service targets the Chinese visitors of Russia. At the moment, WeСhat Pay only receives payments from Chinese citizens,” said Vedomosti.

WeChat Pay enables the users to pay for goods via a mobile app and works on the basis of WeChat messenger.

WeChat Pay’s Russian partner, payment system Sendy notes that WeChat has 936 million users, over 480 million out of which are active users of WeChat Pay.

Each user has a WeChat wallet and a unique QR-code, which every WeChat customer gets after registration. The customers use the code in the wallet to make the payments.

WeChat makes it possible to order and pay for almost any service in China. More and more goods and service become available for WeChat users outside the country as well.

Russia has become the 17th country where people can use WeChat Pay.
