Areximbank-Gazprombank Group and Visa announced the launch of proximity cards in Armenia.VisapayWave, the first proximity transaction in Armenia was made in Moskvichka Supermarket in Yerevan today. Till late May 2014, the bank is going to start installation of payment terminals with VisapayWave option in various outlets as well as issuance of Visa payWave cards for customers.Areximbank-Gazprombank Group became the first Armenian bank to introduce the technology of proximity cards in the country.Visa payWave technology allows making payments almost momentary in all the outlets equipped with card proximity readers. You don't need to to"run" or insert the card into the terminal, sign the cheque or enter pin code in case of transactions at up to AMD10 thousand. You can approach the card to the proximity reader without taking it out of your wallet."Visa payWave technology based on EMV international standards for chip cards ensures functional compatibility of cards and terminals across the globe. Thus, all Visa payWave cards irrespective of the bank or the country of the card issuance can be serviced in all the contactless terminals of Areximbank-Gazprombank Group", noted VISA Regional Manager for South Caucasus Irina Kamkhadze. According to Deputy General Director of Areximbank-Gazprombank Group CJSC Ruben Khachatryan, the bank has successfully been cooperating with Visa international payment syst for a long time.
