Yerevan, November 17 /Mediamax/. With the help of the UNIStream money transfer system, now it is possible to realize transfers from Russia to Armenia in the national currency – Armenian Drams (AMD). Mediamax reports that the President of the Moscow “Uniastrum” Bank, Chairman of the Boards of “Unibank” Gagik Zakarian said this at a news conference in Yerevan today. According to him, one will not have to pay commissions during the transfers. “Our bank hopes to receive profit not at the expense of the commissions of transfers, but at the expense of converting the foreign currency and the rubles to AMD”, Gagik Zakarian stated. He also noted that the implementation of this system, which is new, not only for Armenia, but also for Russia, will allow simplifying the procedure of transfers for the population, as well as will create an opportunity for the receivers to know beforehand how much money in AMD they are going to receive. Gagik Zakarian stated that the “UNIStream” plans to realize money transfers in national currency also to Kirgizia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. At that, during the transfers of sums to those countries, commissions will be paid, as in those states the transfers will be realized to partner banks, and not the branches of the “Unibank”. In its turn, Chairman of the “Unibank” Vartan Ataian stated that despite the fact that the system has been implemented recently, already 6,5mln AMD ($17,5 thousand) has been transferred with the use of that system. According to the prognosis, $400-420mln per year will be transferred to Armenia by the UNIStream system; only in November-December of the current year transfers at the whole sum of $100-120mln are expected. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Tigran Sarkisian stated that the implementation of the system of money transfers in national currency will allow cutting down the negative profit of the citizens during the transfers, and will decrease the level of dollarization of the Armenian economy.
